Marti the mini-moose's Most Excellent Vacation!
For those of you who have taken a liking, and how could you not have, to Marti the mini-moose, rest assured he has recovered fully from his injuries. In fact we are now suspect that he may not have sustained any injuries at all and believe it quit possible that instead he just wanted a free ride and a bit of a vacation to some real winter weather! So without further adieu....
Marti the mini-moose decided to spend the first part of his vacation at the Mack household and see where this whole book thing began. He quickly took to the studio and pitched in getting the gift "certificates" ready for peoples Christmas gifts from those who have purchased books as gifts. It consisted of 12 actual pages from the book wrapped with a special Holiday cover and the wrapping you see here. We had about 40 of these to put together and in my humble opinion Marti the mini-moose helped immensely...
Marti the mini-moose helps out with the tieing of the bows. Although I am not sure everyone thought he helped out so well...
He also tried to help with some of the year end bookkeeping....
About 5:30 am one morning we heard this noise downstairs. It sounded like a crashing Christmas tree. It was then we learned that mini-moose like to sleep in Evergreen trees, something about habitat, anyway this time it didn't work out to well, although no ornaments were hurt in the ensuing fall. That's Sara, above left, checking to make sure her favorite ornament wasn't destroyed. Marti said he was sorry.
Marti the mini-moose helped himself to the 3 dogs food bowls when he wanted. They never truly warmed up to him, and maybe that is why. Here Frank, the wiener dog, cautiously approaches, before making a quick retreat...
We also found Marti the mini-moose loved to hang out in our village. I am not sure if it was because he felt like a big-time moose or he was attracted to the winter scene and Santa Claus...

It was early on December 23rd when I saw the note. It said quit simply, "Have to go to work. Be back in a few days. Marti, the mini-moose." And that was all we knew. He was no where to be found. For some of us - sorrow. Some - not. And that hurts to this day. It wasn't until the day I was to return to Vermont that Marti the mini-moose showed up out back when I let the dogs out early. I didn't know what to say. Should I be mad - yet he did leave a note - should I just be glad he was back? It was perplexing, yet there was no time to waste. It was time to return to The Stinehour Press and get back to work myself. It wasn't until later when Rich and I together would uncover the real story....

Oh, you want to know what Rich and I found out about Marti the mini-moose? Well, I can tell you he helped Rich make a drive out to Utah and their new vacation home (and Quiet Light Western offices). And while Rich did take some pictures, since they are not digital you'll have to check back in a few days to see them...sorry.

Now some of you might be wondering and thinking "Hey wait a minute. How did he get to Rich without you taking him there?" Well, from what we can tell from Marti the mini-moose's story it is like this. Mini-moose can fly. Not only that, as you will remember, he left on December 23rd saying he had to go to work. It turns out these little mini-moose are extremely powerful fliers. They can pull 10,000 time their own weight - much like an ant. And with more people in the world today - and the over riding corporate philosophy to out source operations - it seems that Santa Claus has done just that and has a team of the finest mini-moose assembled to pull a sleigh with some elves around the world along with his sleigh. So he went to the North pole in time to hitchup with the team and help deliver gifts around the world. This has lead to many more questions than we have time to discuss, so let's just leave it at this - both Rich and I and our families have no reason to doubt Marti the mini-moose's explanation for his time away, or how he ended up with Rich for a short time before returning to our house.

That is all we can say. Some things can not be questioned. You just have to believe. And so we do.
